Knights and Cavaliers share points in top-of-table clash

KNIGHTS Stadium hosted a big crowd to see the top of the table clash between Melbourne Knights and Green Gully, only to witness a draw nil all draw.

Knights, who remain undefeated this season, could not break down a 10 man Green Gully after 90 minutes seeing the Gully remain top of the Foxtel Cup ladder.

The game was filled with many turning points, and both teams fought it out but struggled to penetrate the goals.

After only a few minutes in, Green Gully were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty, but were denied the opportunity to take an early lead.

Shortly after Melbourne Knights scored a goal but as disallowed leading to a caution for Joe Spiteri.

Spiteri let go a shot outside the box in the 24th minute only to be saved by Steven Tilovski.

37 minutes in a cross found Manny Muscat open, whose header was saved my Savas Ozdemir.

Tempers rose when Joel Nikolic received his second yellow card to be sent off in the 40th minute.

The Cavaliers came out in the second half to secure at least a point with 10 men seeing the Knights have the majority of possession.

Spiteri could have scored the match winner in the 87th minute when he was left unmarked on the six yard box.

His turning shot was saved courageously by Tilovski
