A LATE goal by Melbourne Knights captain Craig Elvin secured his side all three points Western Suburbs.
Melbourne Knights came out firing with a goal in the second minute of play.
Andrew Barisic laid the ball of to Ivan Franjic who was just outside the box and Ivan blasted the ball past the keeper to put the Knights up.
Ten minutes later Western Suburbs got a surprise equaliser.
New signing Serkan Oksuz got onto a cross from the wing and headed past Savas, who got a touch but it wasn’t enough.
The Knights lifted the intensity of the game and almost took the lead in the 16th minute.

Eight minutes from time Serkan Oksuz almost got his double.
A long ball by Lorenz Kindtner in the centre of the park found Serkan and his header went just over the bar.
Melbourne Knights almost took the lead in the last play of the half.
Joe Spiteri turned his defender inside the box and his shot from a tight angle was cleared of the line by Nikola Raoma.
Joe Spiteri had another golden chance to give the Knights the lead in the70th minute.
He made a good run into the box, got loose and forced Stjepan into pulling a fine save.
In the last five minutes of play Melbourne Knights looked more dangerous on the attack and its pressure on the ball almost paid off.
A corner taken by Anthony Pelikan went past everyone, then Matthew Grbesa cut the ball back in and almost found a diving Alex Kiratzoglou, but he was just centimetres wide of getting a touch on the ball.
