This year's Memorial Cup will be shared between Melbourne Knights and St Albans Saints after the two sides played out a 4 all draw on Wednesday night, not even a Penalty shootout could separate the sides. Knights opened the scoring half way through the first half, but Saints hit back with two of their own to lead at half time. In the second half both sides made a number of changes and Saints struck two more times before Knights steadied and brought the scores level. It was decided to go to penalty shootout to decide the winner, however the players couldn't break the deadlock so the Knights Chairman Matt Tomas stepped up to put the Knights ahead only to see Saints President Vlado Brekalo square the ledger once again. It was time for the Knights President Stanko Bilic to have a go, unfortunately he had his magnificent attempt saved by the Saints Keeper, but the Saints younger Bilic shoots over the top with his attempt. In the end everyone had a lot of fun exactly what Mr. Tomislav Starcevic would have wanted. Rest in peace Tom. |
