Matkovic strike lands Melbourne Knights second win

A last minute goal by substitute Dario Matkovic has given Melbourne Knights a 2-1 victory over Whittlesea Zebras. The Knights persistence paid off in the final play of the match when Andrew Barisic saw Matkovic’s run towards the back post. Hs long ball went perfectly onto Matkovic’s foot who fired the ball into the back of the net and gave the Knights their second win of the season.

Knights take a point from Eagles clash

MELBOURNE Knights became the first side to take a point away from Kevin Bartlett Reserve last night recording a 2-2 draw with Richmond Eagles.

The match started at a high tempo, with the Eagles controlling most of the possession. It took just five minutes for Richmond to score after a great cross from Semir Sivic found Michael Catalano all by him self in the penalty area.

Vrbanovic to head Knights Academy of Football

PROMINENT world football figure Damir Vrbanovic will oversee the coordination of a new Knights Academy of Football.

The academy will create a direct link between the Melbourne Knights and Croatian first-division heavyweight NK Dinamo Zagreb, where Vrbanovic is the current Managing Director.

Heated draw at Knights Stadium

MELBOURNE Knights and Altona Magic played out a fiery 1-1 draw at Knights Stadium last night.

Altona took the lead through a Michael Curcija penalty just before halftime before the game was turned on its head with the dismissal of Magic defender Steve Laurie.
The Knights responded thanks to a brilliant bicycle kick goal from Anthony Pelikan before they too went a man down after Steve Iosifidis received a second yellow card.
Both sides had chances to win the game, but neither could find the goal which would have netted both ice-breaking wins.
