Coach Kolceg predicts another strong season for Knights’ women

Re-established in 2010, the Melbourne Knights Senior Women’s team is fast becoming a strong presence around the club. Outstanding results in the first two years resulted in successive promotions and a championship in 2012 in State League Division 3 North-West.

With sixteen wins and only one loss, coach Tony Kolceg was certainly not surprised by the team’s achievements as he saw very early on, the self determination by a group of women prepared to work hard for their success.

In preparation for season 2013, having been promoted to Division 2, the women have just ended their pre-season of vigorous training sessions which have resulted in success, winning the 2013 Victorian Cro Cup last month.

Expectations for the season are very high, having secured 4 new players, some with Women’s Premier League experience. Coach Kolceg says a top 4 finish in a debut season in Division 2 would be a very satisfying result. “This current squad will certainly do the club proud,” says Kolceg. “As someone who has been committed to this club for the last 4 decades, I would also like to extend my best wishes to all Melbourne Knights Football Club teams this season.”

The Melbourne Knights Women kick off their season against Whittlesea Rangers at Partridge Street Reserve on Sunday 14th of April (12.30pm)
