junior-training

The Melbourne Knights is a club famous and renowned for its youth and junior development in football. The club boasts an impressive member-owned facility which aids in the development of young children, male and female as footballers and people.
Many great players have gone through the youth set up at the Knights, most notably former Socceroo captain, Mark Viduka.

The success of our junior and youth development can be seen in the number of Knights players who have gone onto play in some of the best football leagues around the world, whilst we are well known for giving emerging young talent opportunities in our senior squad since the inclusion of the club in the National League in 1984, right up until this day.

As an example, the Melbourne Knights gave Mark Talajic his senior team debut at 16 years of age, former Socceroo captain Eddie Krncevic at 16, Croatian 100+ cap international Josip Simunic at 17, Steve Horvat at 17, Mark Viduka at 18, Mark Silic at 18, and more recently, Mate Dugandzic, Adrian Zahra, Anthony Duzel and Chris Talajic at 16.

Our junior roster reads like a veritable who’s who of Australian football.
38 Knights players have played for the Australian ‘A’ national team and 3 for Croatia at senior level. The Australian 1996 Atlanta Olympics first 11 boasted 5 Knights players; Mark Viduka, Danny Tiatto, Joe Spiteri, Frank Juric and Steve Horvat and we’ve lost count of the number of Knights juniors who have played for Victoria or represented Australia at the U 17, U 20 or U 23 levels.

If you’re looking for a club that will foster your child’s dreams, give them simple, enjoyable and knowledgeable training in the game and guidance in life – the Melbourne Knights FC is the right fit for both you and your child.
