It was a cold night that shared a peek into what winter has in store, but the heat was soon turned up by the Knights’ fiery performance.
After a string of losses over the past few weeks, and with the Knights playing below their best, the side came out with a point to prove away from home against Dandenong Thunder.
With Ivan Franjic taking on the player/coach role for the first time, the Knights sucked out all the oxygen from the Thunder, pressing and attacking, allowing Dandenong little room to breathe.
They got rewarded for their pressure in the 6th minute, with a timely strike from Ciran Branwell, to give the side the early lead.
The Knights didn’t waver though, continuing to press and take their chances, with Bramwell once again finding the back of the net in the 27th minute, to double the side’s lead.
Both sides continued to press, but the Thunder could not get one back before the half-time whistle.
The second half saw the Knights continue to attack the Thunder’s defence with their high level of pressure, not allowing much space for Dandenong to create chances.
The Knights, however, were able to find some space, and thanks to a Saif Eddine Sakhi strike in the 71st minute, got their third goal, and equalled their biggest win of the season.
With the side finding some form, their next match up against Green Gully this Friday at 7:30pm looks set to be a cracker as they attempt to get back-to-back wins, this time in front of the Knights army. We look forward to seeing you at Somers St!
