The Knights and Gully went toe-to-toe with one another in an entertaining match that had goals aplenty.
The game began with Green Gully controlling much of the ball and the scoring chances. Unfortunately for the Knights, the opposition got their chance to convert early in the half, and at the 17th-minute mark put one into the back of the net thanks to Mo Adam.
From there the Knights lifted, knowing they couldn’t allow Gully to control so much of the ball and play if they had any chance of scoring some points.
It wasn’t until the 45th minute, which saw a stunning downhill run from Gian Albano, who passed it off to Bramwell, only to receive it back as he was making his way to the front of the goal, that saw Albano able to finish off his spectacular run and be rewarded with a well-earned goal.
It was back to equal playing ground as they headed into the halftime break.
The second half saw the Knights come out hot and on top, capitalising on their momentum, Ciaran Bramwell was able to put one away in the 48th minute and not three minutes later did Ben Carrigan also score.
However, the celebrations didn’t last long, when in the 57th minute Shifa Ahmed got another one back for Gully. And not 10 minutes later did they equalise thanks to a Josh Hope goal.
Both sides attempted to find a winner but were unable to, so they shared the points.
Knight will attempt to get more points this Friday as the Original Melbourne Derby finds its way back to Somers St. Don’t miss out on any of the action. Kick-off is at 7:30pm, and it promises to be an exciting one!
