The Melbourne Knights Football Club is pleased to announce that they have retained the services of Head Coach Steve Bebic, Assistant Coach Diogo Ferreira and Goalkeeping Coach Tony Belica for the 2022 NPL season.
After joining the club back before the 2021 NPL season, Bebic and Ferreira were able to see out two thirds of the 2021 season, notching 18 games under their belt as stewards.
The Knights finished off in 8th position, with a 7-5-6 win, draw, loss split before the season was ultimately suspended then cancelled. Speaking on where things were left, Bebic had this to say:
“I still feel like my work here isn’t done and there’s a lot more gas left in this tank”
With preseason only weeks away, Assistant Coach Diogo Ferreira is confident that the team can bounce back after spending the last three months off the park.
“It’s been a difficult year on and off the pitch for all of us so I think we’re all just eager to put this behind us and begin to play some football again”
To assist with preseason conditioning, the club has retained the services of the High Performance Team, consisting of head physiotherapist Meagan Davies, physiotherapist Robert Montagnese and strength and conditioning coach Alex Shilabeer.
Speaking to the club on her thoughts regarding the likely state the players will return in, head physiotherapist Meagan Davis voiced that her team “has been busy preparing new training regimens for the players” and that they are “keen to try them out”.
With the aforementioned pre-season to kick off shortly, stay tuned as we begin to announce some new player arrivals at Somers St.
