Season 2015 draws to a close with Presentation Night

The 2015 Victorian football season officially drew to a close on Saturday night when the Club held its annual Presentation Night at Melbourne Croatia.

Leading goalscorer Stipo Andrijasevic won the Club’s highest men’s accolade, taking out the 2015 Best & Fairest award for a formidable season which also saw him voted by his peers as having the best goal in NPL Victoria.

The equivalent trophy for the senior women’s team was more difficult to decide upon though, with captain Lucy Balta and Joelene Miller both awarded the joint title of Best & Fairest for 2015.

The night also celebrated the seasons of the under 18s and under 20s sides, coaches by John MacAloon and Fab Incantalupo respectively, with Aidan Gonzalez winning the U18s Best & Fairest, while Daniel Sousa took out the same award for the U20s.

The proceedings were ended with the acknowledgement of two significant departures, as both captain Tomislav Uskok and long-serving Club steward Mirko “Rus” Rastocic bid farewell to members and supporters.

Rastocic’s immense service to Melbourne Knights over the decades is hard to properly acknowledge and thank with a mere matter of words. “Rus” has held a number of positions and responsibilities throughout the Club – including groundsman work, equipment maintenance, and even motivational duties! – spanning over such a length of time that even he is unable to calculate.

From the bottom of our hearts, the Club would like to thank “Rus” for his many decades of service. He’s a legend of the Club and we’re sure he won’t be lost to us and will be seen in the Mark Viduka Stand for many years to come.

The Club would also like to thank our list of major sponsors which provided the Club with much needed support for the 2015 season, which were I&D Constructions, AHD Melbourne and AHD Geelong, Melbourne Croatia Soccer Club, XPro/ Shark Screens and I&K Interiors along with Women’s sponsors Mahjong Restaurant, Pavlovic & Associates and Keilor Mowers.
