Melbourne Knights FC is pleased to confirm that Andrew Barisic has joined the Club for the upcoming 2015 PS4 NPL Victoria season.
The 28-year-old’s move back to Somers Street signals his fourth spell at the Knights, having first signed as a professional back in 2004.
Since first joining the Club, the prolific striker has gone onto play football all over the world, including in countries like Germany, Indonesia, India, and Hong Kong.
Barisic joins Andrew Marth’s squad after a spell in the Hero Indian Super League, playing for Kerala Blasters FC with former England international David James.
Prior to that, the Canberra-born man had a taste of AFC Champions League qualifiers while with South China AA, where he scored a brace to see his side progress to Round 2 of qualifiers before losing to Thai powerhouse Chonburi FC.
Speaking to KNIGHTStv after playing in the Club’s pre-season practice match with Pascoe Vale, Barisic said joining the Knights was his first option and said he was looking forward to a successful season.
“I’m obviously happy joining the Knights,” Barisic said.
“I don’t think there was a decision to join anyone else. Obviously I’ve had a number of times where I’ve come back and the first option is always the Knights.
“After the experiences I’ve had in Asia, to be joining the Knights I’m hoping to have a successful season with them.
“Every time I come to Knights I want to score goals and obviously win.
“Every time I come I give my 120% and try to score every game and don’t stop until the last whistle.
“As I always say, I want to be top goalscorer of the league and top goalscorer for the Club every time and every where I play – it doesn’t matter where I play.”
Barisic and his teammates start the new season at home to Avondale FC on Friday, February 20th, with at 8.30PM at Knights Stadium.
