Melbourne Knights are excited to announce they have agreed terms to sign Liberian international Patrick Gerhardt ahead of the new PS4 NPL Victoria Season. The deal is still subject to an International Clearance.
Swiss born Gerhardt began his football career at Bern with local club FC Bumpliz, before impressing enough to be selected signed by league giants Young Boys FC, where he played for the under 15, under 17, under 18 and under 21 teams. He also won international youth caps for the Swiss national under 15 and under 16 side.
After brief spells in Romania & Canada, he joined Bosnian club FK Zeljeznicar Sarajevo for the 2010–11 season. After helping the Club win the National league Cup in his first season he completed the a Double (League and Cup titles) the following season, as well as qualifying for the UEFA Champion League.
Gerhardt most notably was captain of Melbourne Heart (Now City), between the 2012-2014 A-League seasons, with the defender playing a total of 40 games in Australia’s top flight. During this time Gerhardt also won 4 caps for Liberia.
Andrew Marth’s latest acquisition will add invaluable experience and depth to the Knights backline, ahead of the season opener next Saturday away to Hume City.
