Melbourne Knights are pleased to announce Andrew Marth has been appointed Captain, reclaiming his role when he led the club to two National Soccer League championships.
Steve Horvat has been appointed joint-vice captain to serve beside existing vice-captain Alex Kiratzoglou.
Marth will wear the skipper’s armband at tonight’s Round 11 match against Adelaide City Force at Adelaide’s Hindmarsh Stadium.
The game will be broadcast live on Southern 88.3FM and North West 98.9FM from 8.30pm (Melbourne time).
“I’m delighted to be back at the Knights and thrilled to be captain,” said Marth.
“I hope we can make it to the finals,” he said.
The Knights won back-to-back championships in seasons 1994-95 and 1995-96.
Marth, Horvat and Lubo Lapsansky signed with the Knights yesterday after the collapse of Carlton Soccer Club.
Meanwhile, Olyroo and utility Dragi Nastevksi is due to play his 100th game for the Knights tonight, while defender Jason Vukadin is set for his 50th game at the club.
Please note the Knights’ next home game is on Saturday, December 30, against Perth Glory.
Kick off is at 6pm.
The game is on Saturday because of New Year’s Eve, which falls on Sunday.
