The 2011 Victorian Croatian Cup was retained by the Melbourne Knights, defeating North Geelong 4-0.
Goals from Anthony Colosimo, Jacob Colosimo, Yusuf Yusuf and Daniel Dragicevic sealed the win in the friendly tournament played between Victoria’s big 4 Croatian clubs, the Melbourne Knights, St. Albans Saints, North Geelong Warriors and Dandenong City.
Over 800 people came through the turnstiles throughout the day, many donating to the worthy cause of helping sister club Rocklea United after their clubrooms were flooded in Queensland.
The Melbourne Knights Juniors also had their registration day during the tournament which brought a large number of families to the club as well as their traditional sausage sizzle for all the juniors and their parents.
The great spirit in which the tournament was played was testament to all of the clubs competing as well as the fact that all clubs present nominated volunteers to collect donations for Rocklea United.
The Knights looked good in patches and look to concentrate on their last hitout for the season against Chinese Super League outfit Hangzhou Greentown FC on Tuesday night at Knights Stadium at 7:30pm. The Alanic Victorian Premier League season begins this coming Sunday against Dandenong Thunder at home, kicking off at 6pm. A reminder to all 2011 members who haven’t picked up their member’s packs, or those that haven’t renewed from Season 2010, that the office will be open from 3pm.
