Melbourne Knights FC has been granted accreditation to conduct and run the Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) which will begin 13th April 2015.
The program will be run as per the curriculum set out by FFA/FFV. All skill trainers will have a minimum FFA C Licence accreditation. This criteria is part of the NPL SAP accreditation process.
The SAP Foundation Program is open to all players born in 2004 and 2005. The squad size will be a maximum of 12 players so there will be a player to coach ratio of 12:1.
There will also be SAP GALA days which will showcase all SAP foundation squads from around Victoria at one centralised venue for a one-day football feast!
Trial Process and Dates
The club SAP coach and Technical Director will assess trialists. There will be an independent assessor at each of the NPL SAP Foundation trials. This will ensure a fair and equitable selection process.
Subject to the number of interested registered players there will be a minimum of two and maximum of three trial dates. The trial dates are as follows;
Trial 1 – Saturday 28th February 10-00am to 11-30am
Trial 2 – Saturday 7th March 10-00am to 11-30am
Trial 3 – Saturday 14th March 10-00am to 11-30am
Venue: Knights Stadium, Lot 2 Somers St Sunshine 3020
The squad is expected to be finalised and announced by 27th March
Cost of the Program
Maximum of $360-00 (36 sessions x $10-00)
Training Days
Training days are to be held every Monday and Friday at Knights Stadium, Sunshine.
If there is a clash with your club training, we hope the SAP foundation squad training is prioritised, however this needs to be agreed and discussed with the club’s affected. We hope SAP foundation squads train on non-traditional training nights. Players then return to clubs for the weekly match.
Gala Days
Formal games are to be held on specified Gala Days where all SAP accredited clubs meet at the one venue to play games. The Gala Day dates are 23rd May, 29th July and 12th September.
