Melbourne Knights FC is pleased to announce it has secured the signature of upcoming young star Nick Glavan from Melbourne Victory Youth ahead of the 2016 PS4 NPL Season.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who is also capable of playing in defense, played a crucial role in Victory’s youth side that secured promotion via the playoffs last season.
The youngster played 28 games in Darren Davies’ squad that won promotion to Victoria’s top flight, which followed a season with Dandenong City in 2014 where he made 25 appearances for the senior team.
“I played mainly as a midfielder in my junior days, but at Victory last season I was used as a right back. I learned a lot about the technique required and added that to my game,” Glavan said to Knights Media.
Having also deputised for Dandenong City in NPL1 and being part of the NTC squad, Nick could not hide his delight at signing for a Club he supported in his childhood.
“I’m a big fan of the Club; in my opinion it’s the biggest club, playing in the highest level in the state.”
“I can’t wait to wear the Knights top”.
Despite being based on the other side of the city, Glavan will have some familiar faces around the Knights dressing room to help feel right at home.
“Being a Dandenong Boy, I’ve grown up with Stipo (Andrijasevic), so I’m hoping we can carpool to training together!” Glavan joked.
Glavan becomes Andrew Marth’s fourth signing of the pre-season, following the recent additions of Stefan Cali, Nikola Jurkovic and Dean Campelj, as the Knights look to build on last season’s top four finish.
The Club will also have news shortly regarding your Melbourne Knights membership for the 2016 season. The Knights is calling all supporters to sign up and show your support in what will be a huge season for all aspects of the Club. #OneLoveOneClub
