MKFC Club Statement

Dear Members and Supporters,

As many of you are aware, the current Melbourne Knights Football Club Board has resigned. We, the incoming Board, would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing Board for their dedication, hard work, and service to the Melbourne Knights football community. Your contributions have been greatly appreciated.

We are truly honoured and humbled to have the opportunity to lead our esteemed club, which has been a cornerstone of our community and the broader football landscape in Australia for many generations. The new Board will assume full control on June 13th (Sveti Ante), a day of special significance for our community. We will however have an active role in the club operations leading up to this date.

We fully acknowledge the challenging position the club currently faces and are committed to doing our utmost to maintain our place in the top tier of Victorian football. Achieving this goal will require significant effort from all our members, supporters, and the Board. We must unite in our efforts to restore our club to its rightful place as the premier football club in the State, irrespective of the on field outcome this year.

As a Board, we are dedicated to bringing the club back to the people and bringing the people back to the club. Effective leadership will require a strategic focus, strong communication, a commitment to actively listening to our members and supporters, and fostering a culture of transparency, trust, and accountability.

We pledge to our members, supporters, Junior and Senior programs the following commitments:

  • Open Communication: We will foster a climate of trust with open communication flows between the Board and its members and supporters.
  • Understanding and Addressing Needs: We will better understand and address the needs, concerns, and expectations of all our stakeholders, particularly our members and supporters.
  • Encouraging Collaboration: We will encourage collaboration with all our stakeholders, particularly our members and supporters, through open and honest discussions.
  • Strengthening Ties: We will develop stronger ties with all our sister clubs with the specific aim of making each club stronger. Together, we will be stronger.

Lastly, we extend our deepest gratitude to all our members and supporters for their unwavering support of our great club through thick and thin. We encourage as many supporters as possible to attend the remaining home games this season. Our club is nothing without your support – you are the lifeblood of Melbourne Knights. Always remember – Melbourne Knights is OUR CLUB.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

The Incoming Board
Melbourne Knights Football Club
