It’s the big one Knights fans! The O.G. Melbourne Derby makes its return to Somers Street tomorrow night as the Melbourne Knights welcome Hellas to Somers Street in what will be an action-packed evening.
The top-of-the-table South Melbourne will provide quite the spectacle this weekend, as the Knights will continue to hunt for victory against their rivals.
In Round 15, the Knights picked up an important point against a strong Avondale outfit. In a 1-1 draw, Luka Celic scored his first goal for the club in exceptional circumstances. The second-half strike claimed a point for the Knights, moving them into 10th on the ladder.
Hellas survived an early scare against the Bentleigh Greens last week, coming from behind to win 3-2. Despite scoring the first goal, South Melbourne found themselves down at the break. Two second half goals from Hellas secured the three points, to remain at the top of the ladder.
The Knights last faced Hellas in March for Round 3 of the 2022 NPL Victoria season. Our opponents were victorious on the day, at home, winning 2-0. Goals from Patrick Langlois and Jai Ingham produced the three points for South Melbourne. The Knights will have to be weary of both Harrison Sawyer and Patrick Langlois, both sit within the top five goal scorers of the league this season. Sawyer currently sits equal-first on the tally with 11 goals.
Be sure to show your support this weekend, as the Knights faithful will come in numbers to support their crew. Be there or be square this Friday night, for the unmissable OG Melbourne Derby!
