Dear Members,
Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 4.3 of the Melbourne Knights FC (MKFC) Constitution, that a Special General Meeting of Members has been called by the Club to vote on important special business.
Please note this notice replaces the notice dated the 21st of October 2026, and as shared at the Annual General Meeting on the 21st of October 2026. The Special General Meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday the 11th of November has been rescheduled to Wednesday the 18th of November 2026. The time, venue and business of the meeting are unchanged.
The Board of MKFC is asking members to adopt a number of proposed amendments to the MKFC Constitution. The Football Victoria (FV) compliance amendment is required for the Club’s continued participation in FV competitions; the remaining amendments are recommended by the Board to update the Club’s governance.
Meeting Details:
- Date: Wednesday, 18th of November 2026
- Time: 7:30 PM
- Location: Melbourne Croatia Soccer Club, 2 Somers Street, Sunshine North (in person)
- Purpose: To consider and vote on a Special Resolution to amend the MKFC Constitution
A representative from Football Victoria will be in attendance to chair the meeting. A full copy of the proposed Constitution is available for member review prior to the meeting: Proposed Constitution (PDF).
Background & Key Amendments:
- Football Victoria Compliance: In 2024, MKFC adopted a constitution that was not formally approved by FV (a requirement for competing in FV competitions). Most notably, it did not grant voting rights or formal membership pathways to junior participants. FV granted MKFC a temporary dispensation to continue competing while working together to draft a compliant, robust and fit-for-purpose constitution.
- Board Eligibility: To be eligible for election to the Board, candidates must have been a financial member for at least three of the previous five years and provide a current National Police Check.
- Board Size: Board numbers to reduce from a maximum of 11 to a maximum of 7. This allows the Club to meet FV voting member requirements.
- Quorum: Reduced from 50% to 25%.
- Consumer Affairs Updates: Consumer Affairs Victoria no longer requires an appointed Public Officer; references to this position will be removed.
- Liquor Licence Provisions: Liquor licensing provisions will be removed from the Constitution.
We encourage all members to attend. The meeting needs to reach quorum for the vote to proceed, and adopting the FV compliance amendment is required for MKFC to continue participating in FV competitions in 2027.
Please bring your 2026 membership card or appropriate identification, as membership will be validated on entry. Voting is limited to 2026 financial Platinum and Gold Members.
Thank you for your continued support of Melbourne Knights FC.
