Melbourne Knights FC is happy to confirm that last season’s FFV Gold Medalist Marijan Cvitkovic has re-signed with the club for the 2014 NPL Victoria season.
During the 2013 Victorian Premier League season where he won the FFV Gold Medal, Cvitkovic scored four goals from 18 appearances, with his most memorable performance coming against Richmond SC where he bagged a brace to help the Knights to a 4-1 win.
The attacking midfielder won his first Gold Medal with 19 votes, one vote clear of the ineligible Lambros Honos (Port Melbourne), four ahead of Michael Ferrante (Pascoe Vale) and five ahead of Milos Lujic (Northcote City) and Luke Sherbon (Bentleigh Greens).
“It will be hard to replicate what I achieved [last season]. I achieved something that throughout the course of the season I didn’t really expect, to be honest. I’ve achieved something that is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I’ve probably gained a lot of confidence out of that going forward and a lot of experience going forward.”
Cvitkovic said he was excited about the new season and was looking forward to a new challenge.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” Cvitkovic said.
“It should be an interesting, new opportunity for the Club considering the NPL is a whole new structure for everyone involved. Also considering there is no finals football or anything like that – it’s a bit of a change. It should be exciting times ahead. I’m looking forward to it.”
