Melbourne Knights are pleased to confirm the arrival of former Swedish Youth international striker Anton Kinnander, who signs on at Somers Street for the remainder of the 2023 NPL Victoria season.
The 27-year-old forward arrives at Knights after top scoring in NPL Victoria 2 with 11 goals for Werribee City in the first half of the 2023 campaign.
The powerful front man has also plied his trade for Altona Magic and Banyule City locally, getting amongst the goals for both clubs.
In his homeland Kinnander came through the academy of Swedish powerhouse Helsingborgs where he made six competitive first team appearances before playing for several club’s throughout the Swedish league system.
Kinnander is also capped five times at international level for Sweden’s U19 team, scoring once for the blue and yellow.
Kinnander, who will wear the number 47 jersey said he intends to hit the ground running at Knights Stadium.
“When I got the call from Ben (Cahn) my decision was very easy from the start, I have heard so many good things about Melbourne Knights as a club and all the people working around Knights,” Kinnander said.
“It’s a top club and there is pressure to play for this team that I like.
“I like the way Knights play football and for the player I am, I think I will fit really well into this team.
“I want to come in from the first minute and be a great player for this team and produce points for this team, to win games and go all the way to the finals and get good results in the Australia Cup as well.
“I’m looking forward to getting started with the team ahead of what I’m sure will be a strong finish to the season.”
Knights newest attacking weapon is available for selection for Saturday’s trip to face his former employers Altona Magic at Paisley Park in NPL Victoria Round 19 action.
