U16’s Tour of Croatia

Over the school holiday break, our U16’s took to the skies and flew from Melbourne to Zagreb for their Tour of Croatia!

For many attending, it was their first trip to Croatia and judging by the reaction from the team, it was absolutely amazing experience for our boys in seeing first hand Croatian football and culture.

Along the way, many formed new memories and learned lessons that will last them a lifetime and help them to progress in their footballing careers. The squad had Melbourne Knights FC Club Legends Mark Viduka and Joe Siminuc support them during their game against Dinamo Zagreb. We thank them so much for taking time out of their busy schedules to cheers the boys on.

Results:

Melbourne Knights v Hajduk Split – lost 7-3

Melbourne Knights v NK Sibenik – win 5-3

Melbourne Knights v Velika Gorica – lost 5-4

Melbourne Knights v Dinamo Zagreb lost 4-1

Despite some of the score lines, our boys were very competitive, having played against professional outfits who have a rigours daily training regimen, even for their juniors. A big thank you to the Croatian clubs we played against for their hospitality and welcoming us with open arms.

We would also like to thank Coach Zeljko Gagula for all his dedication and efforts in co-ordinating the games and for his tremendous guidance.

To all the parents who supported the boys and came on this trip – it was wonderful! We are immensely proud of our U16s boys who represented our club proudly – they can hold their heads up high, they played their hearts out! Croatia – we will be back!
