The Melbourne Knights will travel to Green Gully this week, coming off back-to-back wins, hoping to make it three in a row.
Last week, the Knights put three past last-placed Hume City – all coming in the final 45 minutes. Two goals from Anthony Frangie and one from his substitute Steve Sokol, was enough to keep all three points at Somers Street.
Conversely, the Cavaliers did not share the same fortune, going down 3-0 to the Bentleigh Greens. In a similar fashion, all three goals featured in the second half, including two late goals to seal the three points for Bentleigh.
The Knights currently sit in the finals picture, in 6th. While their opponents Green Gully, are three points behind them, in 9th. A win for the Knights would ensure they remain in the top six for now. Unsurprisingly, Nahuel Bonada sits a top of the Cav’s goal scorer list, despite only netting two for himself.
The last two times these sides have faced, it has resulted in a draw. More recently – last season – it finished 2-2. The Cavaliers took a 1-0 lead into half time before the Knights equalised, then took the lead in the 89th minute, thanks to Caleb Mikulic. Gully’s Alex Salmon stole the show in the 92nd minute to claim a point for Gully in the dying stages.
Get excited Knights fans! Your Melbourne Knights are in red hot form to continue their winning streak. Make sure to follow the match from wherever you can and get behind the boys!
