PREVIEW: FC Bulleen Lions v. Knights

Round 5 of the PS4 NPL Victoria season sees Melbourne Knights visit the Veneto Club on Monday night to face Bulleen Lions.

Following on from a disappointing home loss to Kingston City, the Knights need to rediscover their form which saw them outplay Bentleigh a fortnight ago.

Only 3 points separate the 11th placed Knights and 4th spot, indicating just how level the competition has been in the early rounds of the season.

Jake Barker-Daish missed last week through injury, however should be available for selection. Milan Batur and Marijan Cvitkovic have returned to training following pre-season injuries, with their return to senior action imminent.

Our under 20’s recorded another win last week with Luke Jurcic again finding the scoresheet, whilst Tomislav Fadljevic and Anthony Katiforis also staked their claims for senior selection.

Opponents Bulleen Lions currently sit in 8th position with 1 win, 2 draws & 1 loss from their opening 4 fixtures. Having held South Melbourne and Oakleigh Cannons to draws in their opening two games, they recorded a first win of the season last week with a 2-0 win over North Geelong.

The Lions prefer a high tempo contest, which is aided by their synthetic pitch at the Veneto club.

Last season saw the Knights take 4 points from an available 6 from Bulleen, with an early 1-0 win at Knights stadium, followed by a 1-1 draw away at David Barro Stadium.
