Melbourne Knights FC is pleased to announce the signings of striker Stipo Andrijasevic and winger Jordan O’Doherty for the remainder of the 2014 National Premier Leagues Victoria competition.
Andrijasevic, 20, joins the Club from fellow NPL Victoria side Goulburn Valley Suns, while O’Doherty, 16, follows in Michael Doyle‘s footsteps, signing from FFSA NPL club Adelaide Raiders.
Both players have National Youth League experience; Andrijasevic with Melbourne Heart and O’Doherty with Adelaide United.
The new duo will be available for selection by Andrew Marth in tomorrow night’s Dockerty Cup Quarter-Final against South Melbourne at Lakeside Stadium.
Andrijasevic can’t wait to pull on the red shirt against South Melbourne and described the chance to play for Knights as an “honour”.
“I’m very excited to join the Knights, it’s a honour for me to play for such a big club with a great history.
“I joined the Knights because it’s a great opportunity for me as a player and as a Croatian it’s an honour to play for the club. My goal for the rest of the season is to play well, score goals and win games.
“Tomorrow’s game is a great occasion for both teams – I’m looking forward to it that’s for sure.”
O’Doherty is hoping to continue his impressive development at the Knights and spoke highly of the “professional” nature of the club.
“I’m really looking forward to joining Knights, the club has got some great history and is easily one of the most successful clubs in the whole of Australia so I’m excited to be a part of that.
“The setup is completely professional, the standard of football is high and I’m looking forward to testing my abilities and doing the best I possibly can to help out at the club. It’s a great opportunity that has come up and it was too good to refuse so I’m glad that I’ve been taken on board.”
Melbourne Knights face South Melbourne in the Quarter-Final of the Dockerty Cup tomorrow at Lakeside Stadium at 7:30pm. The winner of the match will advance to the Semi-Finals and book a spot in the inaugural FFA Cup competition.
