Barisic departs Somers St for another Asian venture

Melbourne Knights FC can confirm that marquee player Andrew Barisic has departed the Club to take up an offer with Hong Kong Premier League side Eastern Sports Club.

The move signals the end of the striker’s fourth stint at Somers Street, after having signed his first ever professional contract with the Knights back in 2004.

Eastern finished second in the 2014/15 installment of the Hong Kong Premier League, and has had other Australians on their books, including former national league player Dylan Macallister.

The current Eastern squad also features one former Croatian youth international, Miroslav Saric, who came through the Dinamo Zagreb youth system and made over 40 appearances for Inter Zapresic.

Speaking to KNIGHTStv before his move, Barisic thanked the Club for giving him the chance to return to Knights Stadium and thanked the fans for their support.

“I’d like to thank the team, the coaching staff and the Club. Every time I come back, they’ve been there and given me the opportunity to play for the Club. I’ve tried to repay the Club every time and I think I have managed to do that.

“It’s been great and every time I come back I enjoy it and that’s why I keep coming back.”
