MELBOURNE: National Soccer League newcomer Melbourne Croatia has signed former Welsh international captain Terry Hennessey as its coach for the 1984 season.
Hennessey earlier this year guided Tulsa Roughnecks to the North American Soccer League, title. His signing is a scoop for Croatia.
The Croatia secretary, Eddie Muzaferovic, said yesterday that Hennessey had represented Wales
39 times and in his career played for Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest and Derby County.
“This ‘year he was voted the best coach in the North American Soccer League,” Muzaferovic said. “He could have stayed in the United States, but we expect he will get a visa to join his son Dean, who plays in Melbourne with Albion Rovers.”
