Cup winning coaching staff commit to 2015

Melbourne Knights FC is pleased to announce that head coach Andrew Marth and assistant coach Frank Juric have re-committed to the Club for the 2015 Victorian football season.

Marth and Juric start their third consecutive season at Somers Street on the back of securing the Club’s first piece of senior silverware in 18 years last season, when the Knights defeated South Springvale for the 2014 Dockerty Cup.

Marth was also awarded the NPL Victoria Coach of the Month accolade for his efforts within September when he took out the Dockerty Cup title and strung together a series of impressive results in the league despite several significant injuries and with little to play for.

Speaking to melbourneknights.com.au, Marth said he was excited about the new season and said he was optimistic with the injured players returning to fitness.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Marth admitted.

“I think it’ll be a exciting season. We went through huge turmoil last year. Every one knows – its a proven fact – that we lost nine players out of our probably starting 15 or there abouts with long term injuries and hopefully those players do recover and we give it a bit of a shake next year.”

The Joe Marston Medalist also said he was happy to have former Fortuna Düsseldorf and Bayer Leverkusen player Frank Juric on board for another season as goalkeeper coach and assistant coach.

“It’s brilliant – the fact that we know each other quite well,” Marth said.

“We go back over 15 years and our mentality is pretty much similar. He’s a great back up for me and he’s obviously an acceptional goalkeeper coach as well as my assistant.”

Melbourne Knights FC officially return to pre-season training on December 16th. Stay tuned to melbourneknights.com.au and the Club’s social media channels for player signings and re-sigings over the next couple of weeks!
