Mirabella Cup: Knights net six against Keilor Park

The fourth round of the Mirabella Cup generated a local derby between the Melbourne Knights and Keilor Park, who met at Knights Stadium last Tuesday night.

The Knights defeated Keilor Park 6-2 (HT: 1-0), producing five goal scorers; Kozic (pen), Yusuf, Dubois, J. Colosimo, Kozic and Shin.

The score line was somewhat unfair to the visitors who, especially in the first half, played like a well organised and well drilled squad.

The first goal of the match was scored by the Knights right on half time when Alinejad was brought down in the box and Kozic converted the penalty.

Yusuf scored from a header ten minutes into the 2nd half and, with a 2-0 lead, the Knights put Dubois on and played with less defenders in the backline, and were immediately punished by Keilor on the break.

Dubois scored with a nice finish only minutes later, but some poor defending by the Knights allowed Keilor back into the game at 3-2.

The best goal of the game, which included some superb passing, saw Yusuf set up Jacob Colosimo who slotted home to make it 4-2.

Two late goals to the Knights made the score line more flattering – Kozic finished off unmarked in the box after Keilor failed to clear, then Shin’s mistimed cross was fumbled by the keeper for the sixth.

The Knights now progress through to the fifth round of the Mirabella Cup, where they are scheduled to meet another local team, North Sunshine Eagles (date and time yet to be determined).
