The newly promoted Melbourne Knights Women’s team have started preparations for their 2011 season with regular training sessions at Knights Stadium. Along with the senior and U21 teams, the women are sharing the upgraded facilities at Knights on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Club officials were notified of the promotion late last year. News of the opportunity was met with excitement from the players and coaching staff. “We’re rapt to be playing in State 3 this year. We also look forward to playing more games on No. 1 ground – hopefully our facilities, the promotion and the support of the club will attract more players here this season,” says goal keeper Stephanie Pejic.
Currently training with the Women’s team is the newly formed U/18 girls team. The inclusion of a girls team this season demonstrates the club’s commitment to ensuring that the sport is accessible to all willing participants.
