Melbourne Knights Football Club is pleased to announce that Micky Colina will be joining our coaching staff for the 2018 NPL Season.
Colina returns to the club where he began his coaching career after a three-year spell at North Geelong Warriors FC, where he will be overseeing the Under 20’s squad in season 2018. Additionally, he will also be aiding newly appointed head coach Aljosa Asanovic and Dean Racunica with the senior men’s squad throughout the year.
Colina, who brings a wealth of experience to the club stated:
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to work with some great football people at Melbourne Knights. It’s great to be back at the club where I first started my coaching journey, and to be working in conjunction with Aljosa and Dean will be something I believe will be beneficial to myself and all involved. I’m hoping I can add value as we embark on this new chapter in the great rich history of this club and hope you all join us in support and be part of that journey.”
Under 18’s coach, Tomi Gavran will assist Colina with the Under 20’s program this year as well as continuing with his own Under 18’s program for the 2018 season.
This three-tiered coaching structure is unique in that the Under 20’s will be involved with the senior program, along with the Under 18’s who will be involved with the Under 20’s program. Senior men’s coach Aljosa Asanovic has implemented this coaching structure to ensure there is continuity and a clear player development pathway within the club, so that all youth team players will have an opportunity to be identified and potentially introduced into the senior set up.
Successful trialists for both the Under 18 and Under 20 squads will be announced next week.
