Franjic and Whyte to lead Junior development program

The Melbourne Knights football club are pleased to announce the appointment of Ivan Franjic and Steve Whyte as NPL Technical Director and Miniroos Technical Director respectively.

Embarking on a new journey to improve the clubs junior development pathway, the club is hopeful that the appointment of current seniors mens players will adopt a novel approach to implementing the Knights way, and bolster a development pathway from Miniroos, right through to senior football. Aside from these duties, the pair will continue as senior mens players.

“It’s very important for a club to have a great junior program as this is the future of the club. And it’s always very special when a junior player goes through the club and plays for the senior team.”

Speaking on his appointment as NPL Technical Director, Franjic reflects that “taking on the new role is exciting and a new chapter in my career as I’ve always loved coaching and being involved in the game, so to work with the future and see kids develop is something I’m looking forward to.”

Alongside Franjic is squadmate Steve Whyte, who joins as the Miniroos Technical Director. On his appointment, Whyte notes that he’s “excited to take on this role within the club. I have a big passion for developing young kids and can’t wait to get started. It will be hard work, but you have to enjoy it, enjoy the journey of hard work and learn as much as possible because football doesn’t last forever.”

The club would also like to announce that expressions of interest are now open for MiniRoos, Junior Boys, Junior Girls, Pre-NPL, JBNPL and all coaching positions across mentioned competitions. To submit your expression, click on the appropriate image below.
