Halfway in – Awad joins the Knights

The Melbourne Knights are thrilled to announce Mohamed Awad as their first signing of the mid-season transfer window.

Awad, 25, joins the club fresh off winning the ISPS Handa Premiership in New Zealand with Eastern Suburbs AFC.

The explosive attacking midfielder had a breakout season with Eastern Suburbs after previously spending 3 years in the highly regarded American College system.

Awad is chomping at the bit to start playing and had this to say;

“I’ve already spent a week here with the team and have settled in pretty quickly. There’s always been a lot of interest to come to Victoria in the NPL but I felt as though the time was finally right for me to test myself and for me there’s no better club to be at in the NPL then the Melbourne Knights.”

Mohamed replaces the outgoing Yutaro Shin as the club’s second visa player on it’s playing roster with Shin returning to Japan following a season ending injury.

Pending his International Transfer Clearance coming through, Awad will be available for selection for tomorrow night’s home game against Dandenong Thunder.

The club wishes Awad well and hopes that he can help contribute to the already positive start to the first half of the season the club has had.
