Knights register girls’ teams for 2012 season

The Melbourne Knights Juniors will be registering two brand new girls teams to complete in the FFV junior competition in 2012.
Spurred by the success of the Knights’ off-season free girls clinics, players in the U11 and U14 categories are already taking part in pre-season training on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Knights Stadium.

Knights committee member Ivana Raspudic believes that any opportunity to involve girls in the historic club is a step in the right direction, “I would encourage girls of all ages to come down to the club to take part. Women (and girls) should be actively involved in every level of this club and it’s great that the younger girls are getting a chance to wear the club colours.”
With the Melbourne Knights Women’s team already an established part of the footballing framework at Somers Street, the hope is that these juniors of today will stick with the sport to become the stars of tomorrow.
