Melbourne Knights FC can announce the departure of forward Caleb Mikulic, 20, who has signed a new contract with Austrian outfit FK Austria Wien.
The product of our successful juniors program, Mikulic rose through the ranks as a pacey and intelligent forward, finding his way into attacking positions and never fearing to take a chance on goal.
Returning to the Knights this season from neighbouring club St.Albans Saints, Caleb was able to find the back of the net early in the season against Pascoe Vale FC. Speaking on his new adventure abroad, Mikulic had this to say;
“Ever since I was a boy playing soccer I’ve always wanted to become a professional player and with some hard work and perseverance, I have the opportunity to make my dream come true. “
“For me personally this is my first stepping stone to become the professional footballer I would like to be. Hopefully it opens more windows of opportunity for the future. Thanks to the Melbourne Knights community for all their support and well wishes, I hope I can make us all proud “
FK Austria Wien is currently in the midst of strengthening their squad ahead of the 2018/19 Austrian Bundesliga season, after finishing in 7th place out of 10. The side also managed to secure a qualifying berth in the 2017/18 UEFA Europa League, however they were unable to advance past the group stages after being coupled with AC Milan, AEK Athens FC and fellow Croatian side HNK Rijeka. Speaking on his new club, Caleb added;
“I couldn’t be happier signing with a club like FK Austria Wien. The club’s professionalism and standards are above expectations. “
We would like to thank Caleb for his contributions on and off the pitch and we wish him all the very best with his new club.
