Stefan Cali becomes a Knight

Melbourne Knights are pleased to announce the signing of left-back Stefan Cali from White City Warriors ahead of the 2016 PS4 NPL Victoria campaign.

Cali 21, will fulfil his desire to play football interstate after spending time with some of the largest clubs in South Australia.

Beginning his footballing career with Adelaide City, Cali enjoyed stints with the South Australian Institute of Sports, and North Eastern MetroStars before being selected in the Adelaide United Youth team.

Re-joining MetroStars in the 2014 NPL Season, Cali was part of the squad which tasted success in the NPL Championship, defeating South Melbourne and Bonnyrigg in the process.

The hard-working defender was first spotted by Melbourne Knights during this time, and is now keen to take up the challenge interstate.

Speaking to Knights Media, Cali described his first impressions of the club; “Just walking down the drive-way and looking at the stadium, the large Knights logo on the side, straight away you know this is a massive club.”

“The likes of Mark Viduka played here and the clubs he went on to play for. I really think this is a good move for me to go interstate, and I couldn’t think of anywhere else to go but Melbourne Knights”

Although predominantly used as a left back for White City, the young defender has versatility to play centre-back or defensive midfield, and will be looking to establish himself among Andrew Marth’s starting eleven.

Further news regarding new players is expected in the coming days and weeks, as well as the release of the 2016 PS4 NPL Victoria Fixture.

The Club will also have news shortly regarding your Melbourne Knights membership for the 2016 season. The Knights is calling all supporters to sign up and show your support in what will be a huge season for all aspects of the Club. #OneLoveOneClub
