The ever-expanding excitement of the Westfield FFA Cup makes its return to Somers Street this Friday night.
With their three game away circuit finished, the Knights return home to face Victorian NPL2 West side, Altona Magic SC, in Round 4 of the Westfield FFA Cup.
The match, scheduled for this Thursday the 29th March, will see the Knights host Altona Magic with kick off at the family-friendly time of 7:30pm. Asanovic’s squad will be looking to capitalize on recent promising aggressive technical play in the forward-line; as nothing less than a win will take them to the next round of the knock out competition.
After 5 games in NPL Victoria, the Knights are playing a quick & attacking game, with head coaches Aljosa Asanovic & Dean Racunica to thank for additional technical form so far in the 2018 season. In the five rounds, the Knights have scored at least one goal in every match, but have also conceded more goals than head coach Aljosa Asanovic would like:
“We need to be more disciplined in the game, with more concentration. Some mistakes have come in games but we are working hard to win the next game and take the win immediately,” said Asanovic.
A stand out for the Knights so far this year has been Newcastle-import Brody Taylor, who seems to have settled into life in Melbourne and is quickly finding himself running into a bit of form, scoring three goals in the last two matches. Speaking about Taylor, Asanovic had the following to say:
“Brody, first of all is a very good player, and is also a good guy and he works hard every training session. I am so happy with him. He scored three goals, but I need more! (laughs). Of course, everybody around the club wants more goals and more wins”
Altona Magic have played 6 rounds of the Victorian NPL2 West competition, and currently sit in 3rd place on 10 points, with three wins, one loss and two draws under their belt.
