Knights bolster squad with young gun Ssemakula

The Melbourne Knights Football Club are proud to announce the latest addition to their squad, Trevor Ssemakula.

Ssemakula, 22, will arrive at the Knights after a spell in the English football system, with the West Ham United academy and the U23’s.

Ssemakula is no stranger to the NPL, where he played for Avondale FC, representing the U18’s, U20’s and the senior team across two seasons.

In 2016, Ssemakula was awarded the top scorer of the Avondale FC U20’s. In the following season, he continued to score regularly for the U20’s, notching up 8 goals in 11 matches.

Ssemakula spent 2019 with West Ham in the U23’s and during an interview with Football Empowerment, Ssemakula described the West Ham United U23’s as “a different level.”

Although he didn’t receive a senior contract with the Hammers, Ssemakula stated, “at the end of the day, I was still grateful that I got the opportunity to be there.”

Earlier this year, Ssemakula signed for NPL 2 side, Werribee City, only for COVID-19 to interrupt the season. He played one match for Werribee City in the FFA Cup against Western Suburbs. Werribee effortlessly won the match 11-0, with Ssemakula securing a hattrick.

Upon arrival at the Knights, Ssemakula mentioned;

“I’m really happy to sign for a big NPL club like Melbourne Knights”. He added that he is “looking forward for the season and doing amazing things for the club”.

Everyone at the Melbourne Knights wishes Trevor the warmest of welcomes and are excited to see what can eventuate in the upcoming season.
