Knights Fall to Hume

The Knights started off quick and deadly on Friday night but were unable to sustain momentum against a fast-paced Hume.

It was a fast and frenetic pace that saw Knights striker, Ciarran Bramwell score in the fourth minute to put pressure on Hume to keep up.

Unfortunately for the Knights, their undoing came at their own hands. In the 6th minute, an unlucky deflection caused an own goal and from there it was hard for the side to recover, which Hume took absolute advantage of, and scored true in the 21st minute thanks to a Josh Bingham strike to take the lead 1-2 into the half time break.

The second half started much the same to how the first half ended with Hume piling on the goals thanks to Aamir Abdallah in the 49th and 67th minutes to make it 1-4 and thus pile onto the Knights’ pain.

Mitch Hore was quick to respond in the 69th minute, but it was nothing more than a consolation prize for the side, who were unable to gather any real momentum from there.

Hume put through one last stake into the hearts of Knights fans when they converted a penalty in the 91st minute thanks to Mickel Platt to make it 2-5.

Hume were awarded another penalty in the dying seconds of the game, but Chris Oldfield was able to deny them, and the Knights were able to end on somewhat of a high note.

While Friday didn’t quite go to plan, and there’s a week off for League games, the Knights have had to quickly dust themselves off as they go head-to-head with South Melbourne in their first round of the Australia Cup (Round 4) this Easter Thursday. So come down and show your support to kick off the Easter weekend.
