Prolific Victorian Premier League goalscorer Tom Cahill became Melbourne Knights’s sixth signing of the off-season on Tuesday, as head coach Andrew Marth put his final touches to the 2017 PS4 NPL squad.
Cahill, 29, arrives at Somers Street with a strong reputation. Starting his career in the English Lower Leagues, Cahill featured for the likes of Rotherham United, Fleetwood Town & AFC Flyde scoring 45 goals from 121 appearances.
A move to Australia in 2012 didn’t hamper his goal scoring ability, turning out for Sunshine George Cross and Green Gully, before making a name for himself at Richmond SC smashing home 55 Goals from just 57 Games and leading the club to promotion as captain in 2015.
A move to Hume City last season saw the striker help the club to finals and FFA Cup qualification, scoring 7 goals from 14 games, bringing his impressive record on Australian soil to 70 goals from 90 games.
A natural leader, Cahill was also the captain of Richmond and offers a wealth of experiences to Andrew Marth’s new-look squad.
“When a club like Melbourne Knights call you, and Andrew Marth expressed a lot of interest in getting me across its hard to say no,” Cahill said.
“I’m very happy to be here.”
Cahill joins Jake Barker-Daish, Kym Harris, Elvis Kamsoba, Danny Dixon and Tomislav Fadljevic as new signings for the 2017 PS4 NPL season.
