The Melbourne Knights will face the Eastern Lions on Saturday afternoon, after last week’s match was postponed.
Due to the wet weather last week, the Knights round 21 match against Green Gully was postponed. While a new date gets sorted out for that, the show goes on.
Last week, the Lions were handed a 3-0 loss on the back of the Bentleigh Greens. After conceding early into the piece, the Lions showed great competitiveness. Although in the final moments of the second half, the Greens pounced, scoring twice more to ensure the three points.
The Lions have only managed one win this season, coming against the Altona Magic in March. Despite having six points to their name, their three draws have come against capable opposition – the Dandenong City, Heidelberg United and the Oakleigh Cannons.
When the Knights last faced the Lions, they took a strong 3-0 victory at home. A tight battle ensued for the entirety of the match, until the final 10 minutes. The floodgates opened late for the Knights, as Lionel Masudi, Mohamad Sumaoro and Gian Albano all scored late.
With confidence on our side from out last outing against the Lions, the Knights will be hopeful to come closer to the top six with a victory. Make sure to support the troops as we edge closer to the end of the season.
