2020 NPL Round 2 – Knights v Thunder

The Melbourne Knights FC are at home for the first time this season this Friday evening at Knights Stadium where they take on Dandenong Thunder at 7:30pm in Round 2 of the 2020 NPL Victoria Season.

The Knights will go into the game full of confidence after last week’s opening game of the season where a 10 man side battled hard for a well earned point against the Port Melbourne Sharks.

They will go into the game without their star recruit Mathew Breeze who will be missing through suspension.

“It was a tough game and what you’d expect in the opening game of the season. We fought well as a team to take a point from the game and there were plenty of positives from the way we played. We go into the game against Dandenong full of confidence and hopefully we get all three points.” Said club captain Joey Franjic.

The Thunder will be coming to Knights Stadium with a big wind in their sails after their last gasp 3-2 victory last weekend against Dandenong City.

After taking an early 2-0 lead, Dandenong City leveled the scores in the second half. However, Thunder talisman Brandon Barnes scored the winning goal in the 93rd minute to hand them all three points.

You have to look back all the way to 2015 to find the last time the Knights got three points from the Thunder after a 2-1 victory that day. Since then the Thunder have had the wood over the Knights.

It’s sure to be a mouth-watering contest and could set the tone for what’s to come for both sides this season.
