Football is back this weekend as the Knights hit the road to take on twelfth-placed Altona Magic in Round 10 NPL Victoria action.
Hitting the road this week, the Knights will be quick to bounce back from last week’s loss at home at the hands of a red-hot Heidelberg United. Despite matching their opponents in terms of shots on goal and tenacity, the Knights were unlucky to walk away empty-handed after the exchange.
Moving forward, the Knights were quick to hit the training ground this week, with an injured Josip Franjic and Mohammad Sumaoro approaching squad selection.
With the mid-season point fast approaching and the Knights currently sitting just outside the top six in eighth place, the side will be looking to collect as many points as possible from the next four matches against the Magic (away), Cannons (home), Thunder (away), and Gully (home), respectively.
Importantly for the Knights, both Tommy Semmy and Tom Woerndl will make their return to Paisley Park, after joining the Knights from the Magic. Speaking on the return Semmy admits he “expects the home fans to make some noise” but that he “won’t let it get in the way of him giving it his all”.
The Magic, who sit in twelfth place, have not had the start to the 2024 season that they’d like, taking only two wins, one draw and six losses in nine games, with their worst defeat (4-0) occurring only one game prior at the hands of Avondale FC.
Going into round 10, Magic hold the worst record between the posts (on par with Manningham United), conceding 21 goals so far. Despite this, they’ve been able to score in all but two occasions, with Jawal Rezai (4 goals/9 matches), Bul Juach (4/9) and Darcy Anastovski (2/9) being the most prolific for the club.
Join the Club this Saturday the 20th as we take on Altona Magic in Round 10 of the NPL Victoria 2024 season, kick off 6:15pm.
