Knights sign exciting young forward

Melbourne Knights FC is pleased to confirm that exciting young forward Rodrigo Covarrubias has committed to the club for the 2014 NPL Victoria season, in what is the Knights’ second new addition to its 2014 squad.

The 20-year-old comes to Somers Street after a period abroad with Argentine club Club Atlético Chacarita Juniors, as well as the River Plate under 20s side.

Covarrubias, whose full name is Luis Rodrigo Covarrubias Tapia, played with Pascoe Vale during the back end of the 2013 Victorian Premier League season where he scored three goals in eight appearances, including a brace against Richmond on the final day of the competition.

Covarrubias is no stranger to Knights Stadium, having played seven years of his junior days at the club before playing senior football for a host of teams including Bulleen, Altona Magic and Northcote City.

Speaking to melbourneknights.com.au, Covarrubias said he was looking forward to the new season and said he understood how much it means to play for the Knights.

“I feel very good.” Covarrubias said. “After playing for the club for seven years, I know how big the club is and what it means to people. So it feels good to finally be with the seniors here. “

“I’ll be turning 21 in April, so I know what this season means to me. I want to give everything for the club.”
