NPL R12 Preview – Melbourne Knights FC v FC Bulleen Lions

Following on from their comprehensive round 11 win against Port Melbourne, the Knights return home this week as FC Bulleen Lions make the trek over to Knights Stadium. As the winter months fast approach, colder and wetter conditions are on the horizon with cloudy overcast conditions predicted for this weeks clash.

The coming round signifies a change in home game scheduling for the Knights, as all home games will now be played on Sundays with the U20’s kicking off at 12:30pm and the seniors kicking off at 3pm.

The Knights make a welcomed return home after securing 3 points in the previous week against the Sharks, with the two goals scored and a clean sheet chipping away at their -7 goal difference deficit (now at -5).

The Knights currently sit in 10th position on the ladder, which remained unchanged after all around 11 games were played. Currently on 12 points, equal with South Melbourne, if the Knights can continue to earn a few more clean sheets whilst netting some additional goals, the squad will be in good stead to start their 2nd half of the season ladder-climb. This task will inevitably become less daunting with the return of Knights forward Kym Harris.

FC Bulleen Lions have not had the start to the season they have wished for, currently rounding out the table in 14th place, only managing to accumulate 4 points after a win against Hume City and a draw against South Melbourne.

However, as these kinds of games tend to bring with them a certain sense of danger, a focused Knights outfit will need to be completely present and alert in order to ensure all 3 points remain at Knights Stadium.
