MalteseFootballStarlets.com has taken a keen interest in Melbourne Knights product Adrian Zahra after his initial injury replacement contract performances with the Melbourne Heart FC.
Born in 1990 with Maltese roots Adrian Zahra is surely a name to take notice of as this young kid has made his debut this season with the Melbourne outfit.
Although Adrian Zahra has never been called to the Australian National Youth Level teams, he might be another player Malta can take a look at. The diminutive 20 year old is 5 ft 6 1/2 inch tall and is a player that resembles Malta’s captain Michael Mifsud in his play and during his 5 week loan spell with the Hyundai A-League 2nd Melbourne side the Melbourne Heart, he is certainly proving himself to be able to fulfill his dream to play professionally soon rather than later.
The debutant midfielder proved his strength of blistering pace during the match against Wellington Phoenix in which he showed why Melbourne Heart snapped this young talent. He will be useful to help the club escalating in the Australian Hyundai A-League in the coming matches. Melbourne Heart are currently occupying the 7th position from 11 teams.
Zahra started his career in the youth system of Melbourne Knights before progressing to the senior side during 2007. He played nearly every game for the Melbourne Knights in 2008 off the bench but was loaned out to Western Suburbs SC in 2009 in the league below, the State League Division 1.
Early this year Adrian Zahra returned to the Melbourne Knights and capped off a sensational year with the 2010 Victorian Premier League U21 Player of the year award, starting in every game and scoring 2 goals.
It was Melbourne Heart who monitored the youngster and offered him a short term contract that was soon extended to a two year full time deal as his performances have been very positive. The Maltese/Aussie player Adrian Zahra is looking forward to making the most out of his short spell and hopefully more opportunities can open the doors for him. Maybe a call up from Malta U21 coach can be one of those opportunities that Adrian Zahra embraces.
