In front of a 200 strong crowd of supporters, players and sponsors in the Melbourne Croatia Social Club, the Melbourne Knights unveiled their new Nike playing strips for the 2012 season.
The evening kicked off with Club President Ange Cimera welcoming patrons to the event before inviting the leadership team of Josip Kozic, Adam Zilic and Aaron Romein to model the home, away and goal keeper kits. Both the traditional design and the partnership with apparel sponsor Nike were warmly received by players and supporters alike.
While Gola Gitara entertained the crowd, players from the U18, U21, Women’s and Senior Mens teams geared themselves up for the fundraising auction portion of the evening.
Miss Croatia Australia New Zealand and Club Treasurer Ivana Raspudic was in attendance to present the new apparel to players before Katarina Jusup and John Nakic hosted the auctions. When the bidding kicked off, entrepreneurs from a variety of sectors in the community vied for the chance to sponsor their favourite player in the 24 man squad, a squad in which 6 youth players from the 2011 season were promoted into the senior team.
