The Melbourne Knights Football Club is delighted to announce its latest signing, Rob Hughes.
“I’m really excited to be joining the club and to be back in Australia. After my season with Goulburn I had a number of clubs from the NPL make offers for my services but unfortunately, I had to return home”.
Hughes, 27, joins the club via Prestatyn Town FC in Wales after previous stints for Connahs Quay FC and Rhyl FC in the Welsh Premier League.
The left sided attacker also had a short spell for Goulburn Valley Suns FC in 2017 where he scored 12 goals in 16 games for the club.
After arriving in the country earlier this week Hughes had this to say upon his arrival;
“When I returned back to the Welsh Premier League, I ended up winning the Welsh Cup with Connahs Quay. I decided to re-join my boyhood club in Prestatyn Town FC to try and help them win promotion back into the WPL this season. However, when Stuart made contact with me it didn’t take much to convince me for me to join the club. He has a clear vision of where he wants to take the club and I just want to try and help the team and club as much as I can.”
The club welcomes Hughes to the Melbourne Knights family and wish him well for the upcoming season.
Wishing Rob well with his new team there. His family and friends over here in the uk will be keen to follow Melbourneknights progress and obviously Rob, on your website.Good luck!!!!
Rob Hughes got bullied by kids when playing footy against them in wales, that’s why he left really.
Great signing for the club. The Robster is a talented player who can score plenty. Taught him nearly everything I know
