Knights clock in first win of the season

The Knights put on a clinical display on Sunday after beating the Saints convincingly, 3-0.

After gaining some momentum the following week against Avondale FC, the Knights carried that through to Sunday’s match against the Saints.

Both teams came out looking for their first win of the season, but it was the Knights who were able to capitalise, peppering the goal throughout the first half. In the 13th minute, Corey Sewell headed one into the back of the net to give the Knights their first lead of the season.

Knights soon doubled their lead in the 31st minute thanks to a power strike from Tommy Semmy, deservingly getting his first goal for the club.

The game evened out from there, with the Saints also having a few shots on goal, but ultimately unable to convert before the half time whistle.

The second half saw both sides battling it out, with not much luck on either side.

With the pace of the game slower than the first half, Knights were still able to create a number of opportunities, as were the Saints. However, it was in the final minute that saw Knights junior turned senior, John Mabok slot away a nice goal, giving him his first goal for the side and the Knights their first win of the season.

After Knights’s most complete performance in season 2024, they’re looking to capitalise on the momentum they’ve been able to gather in the last two weeks as they face Dandenong City SC this Sunday at 4:00pm at Knights Stadium. Come down and support the side as they look to close out this stretch of home games with another win before heading on the road again. Looking forward to seeing you there!
