Weier adds defensive power to Knights back line

The Melbourne Knights Football Club are proud to unveil their newest signing ahead of the 2021 season, Lachlan Weier.

The 22-year-old completes the move from NPL 2 Victoria side, North Geelong Warriors, where he has resided since the beginning of the 2019 season.

Weier played his junior football in Queensland, from the NPL Boys under-15’s in 2014 to the under-20’s in 2017.

The fullback’s most recent stint in the Football Queensland Premier League was for the Wynnum Wolves Football Club in the 2018 season, before making the move to Victoria with the North Geelong Warriors.

Upon Weier’s arrival at the Knights, he highlighted that he has good thoughts on the club, and as he is coming from another Croatian club, Weier has heard a lot about the Knights.

“The clubs name” was a draw card to the Knights he declared, coming from a fellow Croatian club. He added that it “was an opportunity to good to turn down.”

Weier spoke on the fact that he would also like to “individually have a good first year in the top NPL.”

Finally, Weier is hoping to “bring success back to the club”, recognising the Knights achievements in the past.

Everyone at the Melbourne Knights welcomes Lachlan to the club and is excited to see him perform on the pitch in 2021.
